How do I switch from the Arts to MIS?

I have a self-designed BA in historical clothing and fashion. I graduated two years ago and since that time I have worked at a university theatre costume shop, designed and marketed a line of reconstructed vintage clothes, and been self-employed as a designer/tailor, as well as a variety of temp positions. After some time working, I feel like I will never be financially stable in this field, and I have found that I actually enjoy working in a professional environment. I have extensive work experience (pre-college) but i feel typecast by my theatrical experience. I am considering MIS for the business and technical aspects, and for possible flexibility. Ultimately I want to live in Europe, but some level of financial security is important as well. I am interested in opinions on the field, and on this bizarre mid-20's feeling that my chosen area was a huge mistake and I will be poor forever. How do smart, educated people get into entry level positions that lead to success?

Go back to school (parttime or online) and get the education you need. You're never locked into something unless you do it to yourself. MIS is still hot -- I teach people in the field.
