why wont my left speaker work on my Technics home stereo?
I have a technics receiver about 10 years old and my left speaker will not work when connected. The other side works fine. The speaker does work because i have it wired with the other side so it will work. Also the srround sound rear speakers will not work. The center speaker will work. And yes the rear speakers also work. Is this something that can be repaired?
My receiver does have dolby surround sound. The left side speakers won't work

The most likely answer is that the amp output sections for your left channel and rear channel (you didn't give a model number so I'm assuming they're MOSFETs) are blown. They can be repaired but I would do so only if you wished to learn how your receiver's amplifier output sections work. You also didn't mention if this was a Dolby Pro Logic Surround receiver or a Dolby Digital receiver. If it's the former, your rear channel output is mono and is stereo if it's the latter.
If you have a Dolby Pro Logic receiver, the inputs could have been overloaded and are not passing a signal on to the amplifier section. But you would need to test separately for that. If you have a Dolby Digital receiver, it could be your AC3 decoder chip is faulty and is not decoding all the channels.
Without more information such as the model # of your unit I cannot say.
