What are the channel numbers for the regular public stations on a digital tv?
We just bought a TV that receives digital signals, and the channel number are different for just the regular public channels that we used to get with our antenna. We figured out a couple just from typing in the numbers and going up the channels, but it would take a long time to figure them out that way.
Actually, the digital channels are supposed to be the same as the station's analog channel number. It's a little trick built into the DTV system. So, assuming the station's engineers set things up properly, if a station is channel 5, their digital channel is supposed to be 5.1 and the TV will figure out the rest.
That said, if yo visit http://www.antennaweb.org and put in your ZIP code, you should get a list of stations in your area. The DTV should be able to scan for channels and discover where all the digital stations are on it's own. Try doing a channel scan (auto program) and see what it finds.
