what different between av receiver and amplifier?
A receiver is an amp with built-in tuner and preamp. It also has inputs for various other low-power inputs.
An amp does nothing without an external input from a signal source. Some amps include a preamp with controls for volume, tone, balance, etc. Others have not controls except on/off.
