can i hook an ipod dock into my yamaha HTR 5250 receiver?
the Yamaha receiver has lots of inputs and even two 115V outlets on it...... is there a way to hook up an ipod dock to this?
Yes, but the approach depends on what features you want and how much you are willing to spend.
The cheap but less-than-satisfactory way is to just plug an audio cable into the ipod's earphone jack, and plug the other end into the amp's inputs. But this will mean you have to use the ipod to control song selection - fine if you are a big fan of random play, but a bugger if you want greater control.
The easy but expensive solution is to buy the Yamaha iPod dock, which allows you to control the ipod with the Yamaha's remote. This costs about $100. The dock plugs into a multi-pin connector on the back of the amp.
