how can i listen to international radio satations? does shortwave radio work?
i live in the U.S. and want to listen to listen to radio stations that broadcast in the Middle East. Can one do this with a shorwave or any other type of device/radio? (I know that the internet is a good source, but i like the ease and portability of a radio).
Thank you
I tried to find shortwave radio stations and it is very difficult. First of all you have the problem of the different time zones, and radio programs might be on a station for only one or two hours, making it hard to find at the time you are listening. Also, there is a lot of static on shortwave radios. I had a medium quality radio and it wasn't very pleasant listening at all.
To listen to international radio, you can try two things: your player on your computer (I use iTunes and it has a button for Internet Radio... just look for international), or listen through radio station websites. To do this, pick a country. Let's say "Argentina". Then go to Yahoo Argentina and type "Radio" in the search box. Experiment with the different results you get. With this method you will have to search around on the website for a button that says "... online" or something similar. That should connect you to their station using Windows Media Player, Real Player, or WinAmp.
It's really kind of fun.
Good luck!
