Can red jewel cichlids live with convicts and firemouths?
I have a 4x2x2 foot tank thinking of putting 2 convicts (male &female) 2 firemouths(m&f) and 2 horsefaces (m&f) and possibly a male red can it be done, is this to much to hold in a tank this size
The Convicts might make it, but the Firemouths will be gone in short time. Jewels and Convicts are some of the most aggressive breeders of the commonly available Cichlids, and Firemouths will get shredded. Really, if you want them to breed successfully, I'd set up a tank specifically for them, as the fry will likely get harassed by the opposing parents (Jewel fry vs. Convict parents; Convict fry vs. Jewel parents).
