How can I restore the icons for Internet Explorer and Media Center on the desktop and start menu?
I currently am running Windows XP Media Center 2005 and I recently removed the Internet Explorer and Media Center shortcuts from my desktop and now I can't launch the programs.
Any solutions? I can't recover the icons using file recovery software.
I just tried the fix however there is no folder for media center any more and when I recreated the Internet Explorer shortcut, clicking it only created more shortcuts and didn't launch the program
First of all, browse to your local drive (for example C:) then open the folder Program Files. After that, look for the folder Media Center (Or something like that) then open it. This will contain the original program you need. Right click it and choose Create Shortcut. You can rename the shortcut to whatever you like and place it on your desktop. Media Center is back!
For Internet Explorer, just right click the desktop, go to properties, background tab, then select customize desktop. A list of Icons will be shown (My Computer, My Network, Internet Explorer) You know what to select. After that, apply the settings the you're almost done.
Right click the two icons on the desktop (Internet and Media Center) Then select pin to start menu.
