stereo and hdmi to Plasma to PS3 to madness!! Help.?
I have a stereo system (Yamaha) that has 1 hdmi port and one audio optical port (OUT). My ps3 has the standard 1hdmi and optical (OUT). I have a plasma with three hdmi ports and 1 audio optical (OUT). I have sound right now through old av (red white cables) as his was the only way i could get sound for both he ps3 and the tv. MY QUESTION??
How do i get my dolby stereo sound for tv and my ps3?? tried hdmi to tv but that was for hdmi port 1. cable and ps3 are hdmi 2 and 3 port...no luck. tried optical from tv to stereo but no good (i think) because they are both OUT ports (same for ps3 to stereo). here has o be a way o get the stereo sound (5.1) for both tv and ps3 but heck, i;d settle for just the ps3 with 5.1 sound a his point.
Any suggestions will be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!

I have pretty much the same set-up as you do except with an Xbox 360. My Xbox doesn't have a audio out so i just have an HDMI to the TV with a optical out from TV to my Yamaha 5.1. It's not true 5.1 this way, but darn close...still sounds great to me!
Your Yamaha should have some kind of digital audio in, either coaxial or optical. Mine has 2 optical in and 1 coaxial in! Both types carry the signal the same it's just that coaxial is more durable!
I recommend using HDMI to TV and either coaxial or optical out to your Yamaha. Double check the Yamaha's manual or check the back of the receiver to see if it has digital audio in. I can't imagine why it WOULDN'T have one or both of these types!
